Marj Ibin Amer First Festival for Culture & Arts
On the 1st-5th of October 1998 Jenin City was presented at a national and cultural phenomenon by opening Marj Ibin Amer First Festival for culture and arts. It is one of the first activities for the Highest Council for Culture & Arts in Jenin Governorate.
Jenin Governorate, Ministry of Culture and Jenin Municipality supervised the actions of the festival, which included:
1. Child Theatre
2. Cultural, literature and politic Seminars
3. Exhibitions (Plastic Arts, Heritage and Child Creations)
4. Folkloric Evenings which incorporate the coherence between the Palestinians over all Palestine.Folk and art bands from all Palestine (Nazareth, Haifa, Ramallah, Jenin, Nablus,...) participated in the festival.
Creation of a lasting cultural ambience in Jenin Governorate is the main objective of this festival. Accordingly Marj Ibin Amer Festival is going to be annual cultural tradition, and it is looked forward to be a Palestinian, Arabic and International event.
The festival has a watchword "Restoration of Heritage & Development of Culture"
Namely: It connects the past with present and incorporates the deep belongingness of the Palestinian people on their land, since Marj Ibin Amer was and still considered a pass & connection Point.
Ibin Amer plan is one of the most fertile lands in the Arab world, its limbs were divided due to the Israelis occupation of the Palestinian land in 1948.
