Regional Sessions

These sessions will bring together scholars and research from four key regions around the world and discuss the latest anthropological, archaeological and metallurgical research in these regions in the context of region-specific and wider anthropological themes and considerations:

• Africa
  Chair: Professor Bertram Mapunda. Director of the Archaeology Unit, University of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania


• East Asia
  Chair: Professor Han Rubin. Former Director of the Institute of Historical Metallurgy and Materials, University of Science and Technology Beijing, China.


• Indian Subcontinent
  Chair: Dr Sharada Srinivasan. Fellow, School of Humanities, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India.


• Western and Central Asia
  Chair: Professor Ziad al Saad. Vice President, German Jordan University, Amman, Jordan.

We would like to stress that these are the main regions of focus for our conference, but that this is certainly not meant to discourage European or American researchers, or people working on European or American iron, from submitting an abstract!
